Les Belles-Soeurs is a landmark 1968 play by Michel Tremblay that revolutionized Quebec theatre by using joual (working-class Quebec French) and depicting the frustrations of 15 working-class women in a Montreal kitchen as they help the protagonist, Germaine Lauzon, paste trading stamps, ultimately revealing their desperation, jealousy, and the stifling conditions of their lives through a mix of comedy and tragedy.
In the fall of 2025, Miss Porter's School produced this play, in which I participated as the production stage manager.
