What Does the Animal Say

What Does the Animal Say is a devised theatre piece co-created and produced by Birdie Theatre Company in the summer of 2025. In the production, I participated as a deviser, an actor (playing the role ASM), and an assistant projection designer. It tells the following story:

At an elite animal school, the animals are trained, ranked, and made to perform under a set of invisible rules. One day, they decide to leave—

They escape the campus and form a roaming circus, traveling between cities and countryside, leaving their traces in museums, factories, and abandoned theaters.

With song, bodies, objects, sound, and images, they continuously transform the stage. On the road, they become artists — reenacting old stories while inventing new ones. The performances drift between reality and fiction, where the boundary between stage and audience can be broken at any moment.

What Does the Animal Say is a live creation by ten young makers. It is at once a fable, a theatrical experiment, and an open invitation— inviting you to join us in a journey that is always still becoming.
